It is with profound sadness and heartfelt sympathy that we remember the life of Andrew Holden Sober, whose tragic passing following a car accident in Cockeysville has left family, friends, classmates, teammates, and the wider community mourning an unimaginable loss. At only 16 years old, Andrew’s life was filled with talent, compassion, and promise, and his absence leaves a void that words can scarcely describe.
Andrew Holden Sober, a sophomore at Dulaney High School, was remembered as a gifted and vibrant young man whose kindness and energy touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Known for his love of soccer, music, and helping others, Andrew embraced life with enthusiasm and authenticity. He was an avid guitar player, a dedicated teammate within the NBU soccer program, and a proud employee at Regal Hunt Valley, where coworkers and friends admired his warm personality and uplifting spirit.
Friends and loved ones recall Andrew as someone who brought joy to everyday moments. Whether introducing others to music he loved, sharing laughter with teammates, or simply brightening a room with his presence, he left lasting impressions wherever he went. His compassion extended beyond friendships and activities, as he also served as a wingman for Athletes Serving Athletes and remained actively involved in his community through BBYO.
The tragic crash on Poplar Hill Road on May 1 also claimed the life of 18-year-old Ryan Duvall and seriously injured others involved. As the community grieves, many are reflecting on the fragility of life and the importance of supporting one another through moments of profound heartbreak.
Even in passing, Andrew’s generosity continued to shine. His family shared comfort in knowing that his final act of kindness was becoming an organ donor, a selfless decision that will help save and improve multiple lives. This remarkable gift reflects the caring and compassionate nature that defined who he was.
A celebration of Andrew’s life will be held on Sunday, May 10, at Har Sinai Oheb Shalom Congregation, followed by a private burial and Shiva service with loved ones gathered in remembrance.
As family, friends, classmates, teammates, and community members mourn this devastating loss, they also celebrate the beautiful life Andrew lived and the joy he brought to so many. His memory will forever live on through the music he shared, the friendships he built, the kindness he showed, and the countless lives he touched. May Andrew Holden Sober rest in eternal peace.
